Privacy Policy

What we collect

back9.deals is designed to collect as little data as possible. Here is what we do collect and why:

IP addresses (for vote rate limiting)

When you upvote a deal, we store a one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address alongside a timestamp. This hash cannot be reversed back to your IP. It exists solely to prevent a single person from voting on the same deal multiple times within a 24-hour window. We do not log, sell, or otherwise process raw IP addresses.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand which deal categories are most popular and how the site performs. Any analytics we use are configured to anonymize IP addresses and not to track users across sessions or sites.

Affiliate cookies

When you click a “Get Deal” link, you leave our site and enter the retailer's or affiliate network's domain. Those third parties may set their own cookies. We do not control or have access to those cookies. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

What we do not collect

• We do not require account creation to browse deals or upvote.
• We do not collect your name, email, or any personally identifying information unless you voluntarily contact us.
• We do not sell or rent any data to third parties.
• We do not use tracking pixels or cross-site tracking.

Infrastructure and third parties

back9.deals is hosted on Vercel (vercel.com) and uses Supabase (supabase.com) for database storage. Both services have their own privacy policies. Vercel logs requests including IP addresses as part of normal CDN operations; those logs are subject to Vercel's data retention policies.

Data retention

Vote log entries (hashed IP + deal ID + timestamp) are retained indefinitely to support the rate-limiting system. We may periodically purge old vote logs for deals that have expired. If you want your vote log entry removed, contact us with the deal URL and approximate time of your vote.

Your rights

Because we collect no personally identifying information from anonymous visitors, there is generally no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold data about you (e.g., from a voluntary email inquiry), contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we make material changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
